Hey Upper East Siders people who live in Queens: Meghan Markle has officially ARRIVED. The Duchess has reportedly flown from England to the United States in order to support her close friend Serena Williams as she competes in the US Open final.
According to The Times, Meghan's decision to take a quick weekend trip was pretty last minute, and Prince Harry and their son Baby Archie stayed at home in Windsor. Meghan reportedly flew out Friday morning, and is traveling solo—meaning she didn't bring any staff with her (but did bring her security team). “It is a last-minute trip,” a source said. “Excited to support her friend, and then come back.”
The Times reports that Meghan stayed up until 1 AM on Thursday night to watch Serena play in the semi-final, and had been thinking about making the trip to NYC since earlier this week when Serena took home a win at the quarter finals.
Because you know you're wondering, yes, Meghan did fly commercial after the endlessly dramatic saga over her and Prince Harry's recent use of private jets. Unclear exactly when she's heading home (the Times reports end of this weekend), but her first day back at work post-maternity leave is next Thursday, when she'll be launching her capsule collection for Smart Works.
