Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, as prominent members of the royal family, have received a lot of tabloid backlash. Since the Duke and Duchess’s 2018 royal wedding, the press has been straight up mean–usually about Meghan Markle. But one recent viral video showed a different side to the royal couple–a happy one. The Huffington Post recently talked to a huge royal superfan who makes positive videos of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle go viral.
Why Twitter fans loved this video of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
Recently on Twitter, a royal fan account tweeted a video of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. In the now-viral video, Harry is adjusting Meghan’s hair; we see him do this at various events throughout the video montage. In one clip, Prince Harry smoothes his wife’s hair after a gust of wind throws it about; in another clip, he fixes Meghan’s ponytail.
The video showing off Prince Harry’s small acts of kindness towards his wife went completely viral. It racked up over 29 million views, 164,000 retweets, and 733,000 likes. (Rihanna “liked” the video, which should be all you need to know.).
“The most attentive husband,” read the tweeter’s caption.
The Twitter account, @ ddarveyy, was recently interviewed by the Huffington Post. (The royal superfan goes just by Michelle in the article.)
Twitter fan loved Meghan Markle before the royal wedding and the royal baby
The person behind the @ddarveyy handle, Michelle, told Huffington Post she’s loved Meghan Markle “long before she met Prince Harry.” She explained why she stans so hard:
I came to see the genuine and kindhearted person she is. I was specifically impressed with all that she has achieved throughout her life and all the humanitarian work she has dedicated herself [to]. She was (and still is) somebody who really cares about not only the work she completes but also the people who follow it.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle make updates ‘easy’ for the royal fan
Michelle says it’s not too hard to find positive content around Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
“When you follow each of their engagements, it’s not that hard to see the love and positivity they spread which makes coming up with content easy,” she shared.
Michelle admits it’s “very overwhelming” to have her stuff go viral. Still, she’s glad it’s not the negative angles that get all the attention when it comes to royal news.
“I enjoy it because it helps spread the love and word on Harry and Meghan,” Michelle explained. “There is a lot of negative and unfair press against them, specifically Meghan, which is a shame and really disappointing.”
What is the ‘SussexSquad’?
Michelle also told HuffPo she’s a member of the “SussexSquad.” They define themselves as “the ever-growing group of online defenders speaking up on behalf of the Sussexes.” Since Meghan Markle has received an onslaught of hate, both online and not, it’s important she has a group of optimistic supporters.
The tweeter says her feed is a “way for me to connect with other individuals who also share similar interests.” It’s all love from Michelle when it comes to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
“Harry and Meghan really inspire us to participate and help support good causes and I think that’s really important for people who have such a large platform,” The Meghan Markle superfan said.
